In response to this intriguing question, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien candidly attributed his long-term commitment to FPT to one key person: Mr. Truong Gia Binh, the Chairman of FPT Corporation. He explained that whenever he considered leaving the company, Chairman Truong Gia Binh would guide him towards either pursuing further education or transitioning to an entirely new field within FPT. For Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, who serves as the Vice Chairman of FPT University Council, each of these transitions felt like starting a new entrepreneurial journey.
"Mr. Truong Gia Binh has exceptional leadership skills. Every time I considered leaving, he found ways to win me over. When I was 31, I approached him to resign. His response was supportive - he suggested that after 7-8 years of work, pursuing further education would be beneficial. This led me to study in the United States, where I realized the importance of continuous learning to maintain one's value wherever life takes you.
The next time I contemplated leaving, Mr. Binh proposed a complete career shift. He appointed me as the CEO of the real estate company, which excited me so much that I abandoned thoughts of resignation. After five years in real estate, when he noticed my growing complacency, he called me back and offered the position of Chairman at FPT Software.
Each of these transitions essentially marked a new startup journey for me. You know, I might follow in the footsteps of the KFC founder, who started his business in his 50s. Why not? I'm only 55 now, and I still have several years before turning 60 to start something new. You asked if I'm just an employee - well, for me, salary has never been everything," Mr. Hoang Nam Tien explained.

The video quickly gained popularity, attracting 4.4 million views and nearly 200,000 likes just over a day after being posted. Born in 1969, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was a former Mathematics student at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and graduated with an IT degree from Hanoi University of Technology. He joined FPT Group in 1993 and has held various leadership positions, including CEO of FPT Hoa Lac High-Tech Park Development Company (2007-2012) and CEO of FPT Distribution Company (2003-2008).
In 2012, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien became the Chairman of FPT Software. Under his eight-year leadership, FPT Software achieved an average growth rate of over 30%, becoming one of the world's top 500 software companies and ranking among the Top 100 Global Outsourcing Service Providers. In early 2023, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien stepped down from his position as Chairman of FPT Telecom to take on the role of Vice Chairman of FPT University Council.
