Recently, a social media user on Threads with the nickname @7amgon shared unboxing photos of a new MacBook, catching the attention of the online community. Interestingly, this user identified themselves as a programmer working at NVIDIA, revealing the company's employee benefits package.
According to the shared photo, the MacBook was in the process of installing NVIDIA's Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, confirming that this was company-issued equipment. The provided MacBook is a 14-inch MacBook Pro, Apple's latest model featuring the M4 Pro chip, 24GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. This model has just been released in the market and is currently priced at 59.99 million VND (approximately $2,400) in official Apple stores in Vietnam.
The employee further shared that NVIDIA staff in Vietnam can choose between a MacBook or a Windows laptop, specifically Lenovo's well-known ThinkPad series, depending on their usage habits or specific job requirements.
On their personal Threads account, @7amgon also posted a selfie with NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, which generated even more interest in this story. According to information from their LinkedIn profile, this user previously worked at VinBrain starting from October 2024.
The generous equipment policy demonstrates NVIDIA's commitment to providing their employees with high-quality tools for their work. This level of investment in employee resources is particularly noteworthy in the Vietnamese market, where such comprehensive benefits packages are not common.
VinBrain, established in 2019, is a pioneering company in developing artificial intelligence applications for healthcare. Their flagship product, DrAid, is an AI-powered medical assistant that helps doctors diagnose heart, lung, and bone conditions through X-ray imaging. VinBrain's solutions have been implemented in more than 182 hospitals across Vietnam, the United States, India, Australia, and Myanmar, supporting over 2,000 doctors and more than two million patients.
The deal between NVIDIA and VinBrain was officially announced by NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, on December 5, 2024, following the signing of an agreement with the Vietnamese Government to establish two AI centers in Hanoi.
Before the acquisition, Vingroup owned 49.74% of VinBrain's shares, with a total investment exceeding 126 million USD. The specific value of the acquisition was not disclosed. Jensen Huang spoke highly of VinBrain, describing it as an "extraordinary and excellent" Vietnamese startup, and revealed NVIDIA's plans to transform VinBrain into "a major design center in the future" in Vietnam.
