A report shows that the need for software developers is growing fast, in line with tech salary trends. This has made the competitive salaries for programmers in Vietnam go up to between 1,100 and 3,000 USD each month in 2024, depending on their skills and experience. Jobs like AI engineers and cybersecurity experts get paid even more because there aren't many of them and they are very important for companies.

According to data from the Ministry of information and Communications, Vietnam needs to add at least 500,000 technology workers from now until 2025 to meet demand.

Vietnam is seen as a good place for tech startups to grow. The government initiatives and foreign direct investment are helping a lot. Vietnam is now third in Southeast Asia for the number of startup projects getting money. In 2023, startups in Vietnam got 529 million USD, mostly in education, health, and online shopping - areas that can grow a lot.

Programs like Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation ChallengeGoogle for Startups Accelerator are helping startups use new tech and get support. This helps them grow faster and sell to other countries.

Vietnam is undergoing rapid digital transformation in many important areas like banking and government digital services. Companies are using new tech like AI, cloud computing, big data analysis, and focusing on data security. Right now, the digital economy is about 16.5% of Vietnam's GDP and is expected to grow 20% each year.

A Google report says Vietnam's tech industry digital market will grow from 30 billion USD in 2023 to 43 billion USD by 2025. This shows how much the digital economy can grow. Vietnam is also investing in IT infrastructure development and using new tech like 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) to help this change and make its tech better.

With strong help from the government and foreign tech companies, the Vietnam IT market is on its way to becoming a top tech center in ASEAN. However, the tech talent competition for limited high salaries roles remains fierce. Continued IT job market growth will depend on meeting the huge IT employee demand through training and software outsourcing.

Challenges and Opportunities

Even though Vietnam's IT market can grow a lot, it still has many problems. One is tech infrastructure, especially with 5G, data centers, and cloud services becoming very important. Improving infrastructure is needed for continued growth.

Also, online security and data protection are big worries for IT companies, especially as online attacks get more clever. To work with global companies, Vietnamese businesses need to follow strict online security rules and get better at data protection.

The report says there aren't enough experienced workers for complex jobs like online security and AI. This makes it hard for companies to find and keep good workers, and they need to train their current workers more.

Mr. Park JongHo, says, "This report is like a map that helps companies and investors see the potential of IT in Vietnam. We believe Vietnam will keep growing and become a top tech and innovation center in the region."
