Harvard University is one of the oldest schools in the United States. It is also one of the top-ranked schools in the world. As of October 2019, Harvard has trained a total of 8 US presidents, including Franklin Roosevelt and Barack Obama. Also, 160 former Harvard students, teachers, and researchers have won Nobel Prizes.

It's no accident that Harvard has produced tens of thousands of top people in many fields, especially in business. Besides Harvard's teaching methods and ideas, the hard work and determination of the students are even more important.

There is a saying at Harvard called "Harvard at 4:30 AM". This means that at 4:30 in the morning, the Harvard library is still brightly lit and busy. Many people are studying hard, not feeling tired, trying to chase their dreams.

They know that the time never comes back, and wasting time is wasting life.

They know this world belongs to the strong, and many strong people are chasing each other every second. If they don't try hard, they will fall behind.

The more outstanding people are, the more they see how little they know and how ordinary they are. They realize how important learning is and how precious time is.

There are 18 mottos on the walls of Harvard University that are passed down:

  1. If you sleep now, you will dream. If you study now, you will achieve your dreams.

  2. The day I waste today is the day that people who died yesterday prayed for. (All tomorrows will become today, all todays will become yesterday).

  3. When you think it's too late is actually the earliest time. (Change your direction, start over, and begin a new journey. The luckiest thing is to find out early. Many people don't know when the end is coming, so the time of discovery is the time to fix things).

  4. Don't leave today's work for tomorrow. (If you live waiting for tomorrow, everything will be wasted).

  5. The pain of learning is temporary, the pain of not learning lasts a lifetime.

  6. Not having time to learn this is not about lacking time, but lacking effort.

  7. Happiness may not be ranked,  but success must be ranked.

  8. Learning is not everything in life. But because you can't master even a small part of life, besides learning, what else can you do? (Learning is the easiest job in the world, but many people are not willing to do this mental work. Instead, they want to do physical labor).

  9. Enjoy the pain that can't be avoided. (Because it can't be avoided, its appearance will surely improve your heart. Everything happens to achieve a better self in the future).

  10. Only by working harder and earlier than others can you enjoy success.

  11. No one can succeed by chance, it comes from careful self-management and persistence.

  12. Time is passing by.

  13. If you don't walk today, you'll have to run tomorrow. (Rice must be eaten one bite at a time, journeys must be taken one step at a time. Pulling a young tree to encourage it will only harm the young tree.)

  14. Those who invest in the future are loyal to reality. (Life only lasts a few decades, you're just a little over half your youth. Don't crave comfort too early. In the future, your mental and physical strength will be far less than today. So, invest in the future to make yourself have enough experience, ability and energy to live the life you want).

  15. Education level shows income. (Education level shows learning ability, effectiveness in learning new skills and is the foundation for learning, how to do a good job. When things are done well, income will naturally).

  16. A day that passes will never come back. (Value time. Time is constant, but for the hardworking, it is a variable. People who count time in "minutes" have 59 times more time than those count time in "hours").

  17. Even now, competitors are still turning pages.

  18. Without hardship, nothing is achieved.
